Thumbplay and Myspace put up for sale

AllThingsDigital reported that Thumbplay, which launched a year ago in the US, was selling its music streaming arm to Clear Channel Radio. It will, for the moment, hold onto the ringtone division upon which it built its name, but it is said to be seeking another buyer for it.

It is believed that Thumbplay only signed up 20,000 subscribers to its music service, putting it far behind market leader Rhapsody which has 750,000 subscribers.
