The BRIT crowd: Biz salutes streaming-led resurgence in UK breakthroughs

Label executives have welcomed the return of artist breakthroughs, as streaming powered the performance of debut albums.

Music Week research has revealed that four UK debuts finished in the Top 100 albums of 2019. That compares to just one in 2018, Anne-Marie’s Speak Your Mind (Asylum/Atlantic).

New UK artists including Lewis Capaldi, Dave, Mabel, Freya Ridings, D-Block Europe, AJ Tracey, Aitch and Sam Fender have also been recognised in the BRITs nominations.
