Fan relationship platform Openstage launches 2.0 update

Openstage has launched an update to its fan relationship platform to help artists grow their own fan ecosystems.

The company says it powers artist-fan relationships with more than 35 million fans worldwide.

Its new update, Openstage 2.0, is aimed at artists who want to own their fan relationships and data rather than depend on social and streaming platforms.

"The artists who build lasting careers don't just release music. They build entire worlds around their fans," said co-founder Rob Sealy. "For too long, those relationships have been scattered across platforms artists don't control. Openstage gives artists a place to bring them together, where they know their fans, can reach them directly, and build on those relationships with every new release, tour and campaign. That's how genuine connection becomes lasting value."

Openstage has worked with acts such as Paul McCartney, Oasis, Lana Del Rey, Radiohead, Freya Skye, Hayley Williams and Lewis Capaldi.

Most tech for artists is oriented around chasing reach or monetising superfans. They optimise for individual moments rather than the fan relationship that connects them

It is now introducing two products within its wider Inside Out model, designed to help artists manage their relationships with fans directly.

The first, Fan HQ, brings together an artist’s website, music, tour information, merchandise, posts, memberships and community features in one place, giving artists a central online presence where fans can access content, interact and sign up as members.

The second product, Fan Pass, gives fans a digital membership pass that can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Artists can use the passes to reflect membership status and send push notifications, without requiring fans to download a separate app.

Openstage also brings fan information and activity together in a single Fan Profile.

"Most tech for artists is oriented around chasing reach or monetising superfans," said chief product officer Rob Abelow. "They optimise for individual moments rather than the fan relationship that connects them. Billed as tools for growth, they keep artists dependent on creating the next moment instead of building a fanbase that gets stronger with each one."

Building and connecting with your fanbase is so important, and working alongside Openstage over the years has enabled us to do just that

Lewis Capaldi launched Lewis Capaldi HQ on October 22, bringing his mailing list, community and link-in-bio together in one place. It already has more than 750,000 members in less than two weeks.

Hannah Daisy Braid of management company Interlude Artists, which represents Capaldi, said: "Building and connecting with your fanbase is so important, and working alongside Openstage over the years has enabled us to do just that, keeping Lewis's relationship with his fans at the forefront of our campaigns.

"Fan HQ brings that together in one place, giving us more opportunities to recognise their support, give something back and keep them involved beyond arelease or tour."
