'A pioneer of electronic music': Goldfrapp's Will Gregory signs to Decca Publishing

Will Gregory, electronic composer, producer and one half of electronic pop duo Golfdrapp, has signed a deal with Decca Publishing.

Though more famous for his electro-pop ventures, Gregory’s global solo deal will focus more on his classical output, which has formed a significant portion of his career so far. Gregory ‘s classical composition work includes the music for the acclaimed new film Arcadia with Adrian Utley of Portishead, the score for the National Theatre Scotland’s James III Trilogy, the score for Medea for the National Theatre in 2014 with bandmate Alison Goldfrapp, and his own opera ‘Piccard in Space’ in 2011.

Gregory is currently working on a project with The British Paraorchestra, entitled ‘The Nature of Why’, a performance piece merging dance and cinematic live-score which will be performed in London at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in September as part of Unlimited Festival 2018. He is also developing the score for the upcoming BBC TV series Serengeti, executive produced by Simon Fuller.

Of his new signing, Gregory says: “I am really excited to be working with the Decca Publishing team. They are drawing from a very wide pool of expertise to bring together all the disparate musical threads that I think are needed for in-depth music publishing these days. They have a great stable of composers that I am proud to be counted among, and it’s clear they are incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about a diverse range of music. Decca is the perfect fit for me because I love all kinds of music and enjoy crossing genres, as do they. I am very much looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting down to work with them.”

Natasha Baldwin, Head of Decca Publishing, commented: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Will to Decca Publishing. He has been a pioneer of electronic music for the last 20 years and is hugely respected for his impact in developing and expanding this musical space. Will’s ability to blend musical styles and cross genres and is what makes him such an important voice in the contemporary music scene, when audiences want something innovative and exciting. We are hugely excited to help further amplify his artistry around the world.”
