Decca's Mercury KX signs composer Anna Meredith

Composer, producer and performer Anna Meredith has signed to Decca's Mercury KX.

Meredith, whose work moves between contemporary classical, electronic music, art pop, experimental rock and film and TV, will release her new studio album Darling via the label on February 12, 2027. New single Dusky is available now.

“Welcoming Anna to Mercury KX is a dream come true for the team," Decca president Laura Monks told Music Week. "We have watched in awe as she has built a successful and critically acclaimed career. She is one of the most creatively inspiring composers of her generation and we are honoured to support this next phase of her journey.”

The 11-track LP marks her first studio album since 2019’s Mercury Prize-nominated FIBS. Alongside the standard digital, CD and vinyl options, Darling's physical release will include a limited-edition double 'Flumps Pink' 12" vinyl, with the music spread across three sides and an etching on side D.

“Darling is a channelling of intensity, energy and euphoria," said Meredith. "This is me making music to summon motion, tension and release, to push through my brain and my body at a time when my own world (and the world in general) feels overwhelming."

My aim was to create a unique experience ultimately for myself but also for those I'm bringing along on this journey with me

She continued: "My aim was to create a unique experience ultimately for myself but also for those I'm bringing along on this journey with me. I wanted to lean into a technicolour version of what my music can be, reaching for higher highs and greater twists and turns, and letting it sit with more confidence than ever before. The tracks are longer, bolder, wilder and simpler than anything that appears on my previous albums.

"I've thought a lot about balancing the meticulous level of detail in dense and complex music with the intention to be open, crafting a conduit for energy and joy.”

After building a career as a classical composer, including composer in residence for BBC SSO and commissions for the First Night and Last Night of the Proms, Meredith expanded into writing with electronics for her band, installations & commercial work and was awarded an MBE for services to music in 2019.

She is also a composer for TV and film. Her work includes scores for Eighth Grade, Living With Yourself, The End We Start From and Tuesday and the score for upcoming feature film Wicker, starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård.

With her band, she has performed at venues including the Barbican, Queen Elizabeth Hall and EartH, as well as Glastonbury, SXSW and Big Ears.
