Concord Recorded Music expands UK and international team

Concord Recorded Music expands UK and international team

Back in July, Music Week broke the news that Concord Recorded Music had launched its operation in the UK.

Now the indie has appointed additional international staff in Canada, Germany, Australia and the UK for its frontline and catalogue businesses.

David Beaufoy has been appointed as senior director of catalogue for Craft Recordings UK, reporting to chief catalogue executive Sig Sigworth and UK MD Fred Gillham.

Craft Recordings manages Concord’s master recording catalogue of about 16,000 albums. In his new role, Beaufoy will oversee the day-to-day operations in the UK, as well as manage and deliver the marketing, promotional and maintenance efforts for Concord Recorded Music’s catalogue.

“Working with David for the last few years as a partner, I’ve seen his creativity, passion and work ethic on full display in everything he does,” said Sigworth. “To be in a position to add him to the Craft team leading our charge in the UK, I’m incredibly excited to see what more he’ll be able to achieve.”

He has held key positions within both major and independent labels, most recently for Universal Music as a senior marketing manager in the international strategic catalogue division. Campaigns included artists such as The Rolling Stones, John Lennon, REM, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Deep Purple, Placebo, Crowded House and INXS.

New releases from Concord Records, Fantasy Records, Fearless Records, Loma Vista Recordings and Rounder Records, as well as catalogue reissues from Craft Recordings, will be represented by three new international label managers: Andrew Hajgato (Australia), Bryan Columbus (Canada) and Hilke Dethleff (Germany). The trio - reporting to international SVPs Michael Nance and Rebecca Berman - will direct all aspects of the campaigns for Concord’s current label rosters, working with distribution partners in each territory on artist and catalogue campaigns.

Hajgato joins Concord with over 10 years' label at Universal Music, Cooking Vinyl Australia and Inertia Music.

Columbus began his career in 2009 as manager of label relations, marketing and acquisitions for Fontana North Distribution, overseeing domestic and international label business in Canada. He joined the Black Box Music and BMG Canada team in 2017 as label and marketing manager, overseeing strategic marketing across frontline projects as well as running label operations for Broken Bow Music Group’s expansion into the Canadian market.

Dethleff joined Sony Music Entertainment in 1996 in the role of senior marketing manager. She left Sony in 2006 and later began her own business doing freelance product/label management. She worked as a product manager for Concord, Kobalt Music and Peter Gabriel’s Real World, and as a label manager for Cooking Vinyl handling artists such as Elvis Costello, Sia, James Taylor, Alison Krauss, Billy Gibbons, Esperanza Spalding, Nick Cave, The Darkness, Frank Carter, Courtney Barnett and De La Soul.

“Andrew, Bryan and Hilke are passionate executives that bring a wealth of experience to Concord Recorded Music’s global team," said Berman and Nance. "They are already making a positive impact for our artists and releases in their respective markets."

“As we forge ahead in the global expansion of our Recorded Music interests, we are staying true to Concord’s commitment to global artist development,” said Concord Recorded Music chief label executive Tom Whalley. “Every new team member in every territory must not only have a deep knowledge of their market but must be passionate advocates for our artists’ music and the indie spirit of Concord. This growth is absolutely invaluable to the global careers of our artists and I am incredibly excited about the potential of this undertaking.”
