Lewis Capaldi, Mabel & more hit Abbey Road for Share The Stage gig series

Lewis Capaldi, Mabel, Bastille and Kaiser Chiefs are set to record live performances at Abbey Road Studios for Barclaycard’s new Share The Stage series.

Each gig will also feature a support slot from an emerging artist, a move designed to help acts who may have missed out on a summer of festivals due to the coronavirus pandemic. Each headliner will also cover a song by their support act. Conceived with the intention of bringing the festival experience into fans’ homes, the series will be broadcast on YouTube and hosted by Fearne Cotton.

The series – which will also feature interviews with the acts – begins on July 2 with Kaiser Chiefs, Gracey, and Jetta.

Lewis Capaldi will play alongside Celeste on July 9, with Mabel and Bastille’s shows to follow.

Lewis Capaldi, said: “It’s an honour to be involved in helping to support some of the incredible new artists coming through that I’ve been following and am a big fan of. Live music played a huge part in helping me in the past couple of years so I feel for the amazing new acts who can’t get out there and play this year. I’m excited to be a small part of helping support new music in the UK at the moment.”

Mabel said: “Being on stage has been integral to my growth as an artist over the past few years, especially when I’ve had the chance to perform alongside some of my idols. Right now, there’s so much incredible talent in the UK just waiting to be seen and heard. Whilst none of us can step on stage physically this summer, it’s great to be part of an initiative that is going some way to give emerging artists the platform they deserve.”

Dan Mathieson, head of sponsorship at Barclaycard, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with such an exciting pool of both established and emerging talent to launch Share The Stage. Festivals and live entertainment events are not only a chance for music fans to enjoy their favourite artists, but they give up-and-coming acts a platform to perform that is integral to success in the early stages of their careers. Share The Stage hopes to make up for some of the disappointment of not being able to perform this year, whilst continuing to bring the best in entertainment to customers who have lost their summer of live this year.”

Fearne Cotton said: “I’ve been a fan of festivals for as long as I can remember, and from interviewing artists over the years, I know just how important a summer packed full of live performances is in establishing yourself when you’re just starting out. So, when Barclaycard approached me to host Share The Stage, I jumped at the chance. Not only do I get to chat to some of today’s biggest artists about their favourite festival memories, but I get to introduce some of the most exciting up-and-coming talent and capture incredible performances by both – what more could you want?”
