The Heavy Music Awards reveals shortlist

The Heavy Music Awards reveals shortlist

The first ever Heavy Music Awards, a new public-voted awards event conceived to celebrate rock and metal, has revealed its shortlist. Preliminary nominess were selected by more than 300 members of the music industry, and are spread across ten categories.

The event - established by the Heavy Group, a separate venture formed by co-organisers Dave Bradley (Promoter at Live Nation) and Andy Pritchard - will take place on August 24 at House of Vans London and will be broadcast on the Sony-owned channel Scuzz.

Speaking about the shortlist, HMAs co-founder Bradley said: "We are so excited to see that the industry has produced shortlists that span the vast breadth of the heavy music landscape. Beyond the seven finalists in each category, the judges produced a staggeringly comprehensive list of nominees - almost 150 individuals were nominated for Best Photographer, while a similar number were put forward for Best Producer. A huge testament to the strength in depth currently on offer across this amazing scene."
