The company claims Samsung's tablet and mobile devices infringe a number of its patents relating to the iPhone and iPad. In its filing to the US District Court of Northern California it is also claiming unfair competition.

AllThingsDigital reports, "Apple is seeking injunctions, actual damages and punitive damages, as well as a finding that the alleged infringement was willful."

Apple is alleging infringement in a variety of areas "ranging from core technology to screen icons to hardware shape".
