Happy Artist Records signs rapper and hip-hop producer Bemz

Happy Artist Records has announced the signing of Scottish rapper and hip-hop producer Bemz.

The independent label was founded by The Snuts’ Jack Cochrane and Callum Wilson alongside the band’s managers Callum Read and Adam Harris.

The label was established in 2024 to give The Snuts greater creative control over their music, with Bemz becoming the first external artist to join as the company expands its roster.

Bemz's 2020 debut album Saint Of Lost Causes was nominated for Scottish Album Of The Year Award, while he recently performed alongside Valtos at Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony and also delivered a special performance at the Closing Ceremony.

To have people believe in you and your music so much that they’re willing to get behind it and give it the best chance is proper

The signing builds on Bemz existing relationship with Cochrane and producer-writer Scotty Anderson, who have previously collaborated across remixes and other projects. Their latest collaboration, DND, will be released on August 28 as Bemz’s first single through the label.

“Signing means a lot," said Bemz. "To have people believe in you and your music so much that they’re willing to get behind it and give it the best chance is proper. I’m grateful to everyone who’s been part of the journey so far.”

Last year, Happy Artist Records partnered with Virgin Music Group for global distribution.

The Snuts' first LP to be released through the label, Millennials (24,764 sales, OCC), reached No.2 on the Official Albums Chart in 2024.
