Universal Music Group has sold its UK mail order music club, the business which trade as Britannia, to US mergers and acquisitions specialist Platinum Equity for an undisclosed sum.
The business is officially known as Universal Group Direct (UK). The major is selling it alongside a similar French business called Dial.
Both the English and French clubs are the largest in their respective countries. UGD (UK) was established in 1969 and has over 2m subscribers.
