IMRO reports revenues increase of 8% in 2025

The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) has reported record revenues of €57.1 million for 2025, an 8% year-on-year increase.

International collections, digital licensing and global membership growth continued to increase for IMRO.

Membership has now passed 30,000 music creators worldwide, following the admission of 5,139 new members across 100 territories during the year.

Distributions to songwriters, composers and music publishers reached €48.4m in 2025.

International revenue increased by 15% to €20 million, making it one of IMRO's fastest-growing revenue streams and highlighting the growing importance of global licensing and digital rights management to the organisation's long-term growth strategy

Included within the International revenue category is €7m in multi-territorial revenue, which grew 10%, driven by continued growth from major digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.

Overseas collections now account for more than one-third of IMRO's licensing revenues, demonstrating the increasingly international nature of music consumption and royalty flows.

“As global royalty collections continue to reach record levels and streaming subscriptions expand worldwide, IMRO expects international and multi-territorial revenues to remain key growth drivers in the years ahead,” said a statement.

During 2025, IMRO continued a significant programme of digital transformation, including the roll-out of a new self-licensing platform and the ongoing modernisation of its distribution infrastructure. Elements of these initiatives are now being adopted and reflected in implementations by several overseas collecting societies.

IMRO CEO Victor Finn said: "The continued growth of our international revenues and membership demonstrates the increasing relevance of IMRO within the global rights management ecosystem. We are seeing more creators and publishers choosing IMRO because of our ability to combine sophisticated technology, along with our reputation for providing accurate and timely royalty distributions.

"Our international strategy is focused on helping creators capture value wherever their music is used. As streaming continues to break down territorial barriers, rights management organisations must evolve accordingly. IMRO has invested heavily in the systems, data capabilities and partnerships necessary to thrive in this environment."

IMRO also continues to play an active role in international policy discussions relating to artificial intelligence and copyright. Working alongside European and global industry partners, IMRO has advocated for transparency, licensing and fair remuneration frameworks to govern the use of copyrighted works by AI developers and platforms.
