Sienna Spiro’s first UK No.1 single represents a “remarkable achievement,” according to Capitol Records president Lillia Parsa.
Great Expectation pipped Choosin’ Texas by Ella Langley to record a maiden chart-topper for 20-year-old London singer/songwriter Spiro, who starred on the cover of Music Week earlier this year.

Joining a lengthening list of milestones for Spiro, including a No.2 entry and peak for her debut album Visitor, a first UK No.1 single is a watershed moment.
“Great Expectation going number one in the UK is a remarkable achievement,” Parsa told Music Week. “ It reflects Sienna’s incredible artistry, her genuine connection with fans and the work of an exceptional team. We couldn’t be prouder.”
Maslin said: “I couldn’t be prouder of Sienna and the entire team for achieving a Number 1 with Great Expectation, a special shoutout to Jackie Eyewe and Caitlin Fine on this win.”
The last British female artist to top the chart at a younger age with a solo release was Ella Henderson, who was 18 when she hit No.1 with Ghost in 2014.
Great Expectation trailed last week’s No.1 Choosin’ Texas in all of the week’s sales flashes before moving ahead at the last to finish on 28,147 units (1,789 digital downloads and 26,358 sales-equivalent streams), an increase of 11.41% week-on-week.
The track now has 195,088 sales to date. Spiro’s biggest seller remains Die On This Hill (865,150), the song that started it all for the artist. Her other biggest sellers include Maybe (540,371), You Stole The Show (396,254), Material Lover (315,886) and The Visitor (286,618).
Spiro’s debut album Visitor charted in the Top 10 this week and has 99,236 sales to date, while Die On This Hill and Pure are also in the singles Top 40.
