Cooking Vinyl Publishing has signed Rikke Normann to a worldwide administration deal.
As an established and well-respected musician in her native Norway, Normann has released five solo albums to date as ‘Rikke’ on her own Rikkeleaks label. She is also backing vocalist to some of Norway’s biggest pop acts such as Bernhoft, Madcon and Emma Steinbakken.
Normann was introduced to Cooking Vinyl while participating in the Future Echoes songwriting camp in Sweden earlier this year, where she also performed live as part of their international showcase. Her musical influences include Bjork, Lorde, Phoebe Bridgers, Haim and Norwegian act Highasakite.
With previous success in Norway and Germany, and now signed to London’s Regent Street Records, Normann is readying her next recording project.
Rikke Normann said: “I almost still can't believe this has happened! Being (chased down and) signed by Cooking Vinyl, I feel like Cinderella at the ball; me alongside all these wonderful indie artists and singer-songwriters that I look up to. It has given me a new and humble feeling of home, in a way. I didn't know I was looking for recognition but I always felt so different and like I don't fit in anywhere, I now know I was.
“I've always thought I'd have to do everything myself if I wanted to keep just ‘doing me’, but meeting the wonderful and honest Ryan from CV, I now see that what I thought was my weakness (not fitting in and being different) actually might be my strength. It's like I have both a new calm inside, but also an even bigger drive to keep creating my universe with this support from CV! I am hopeful and excited for the future!”
Ryan Farley, Cooking Vinyl Publishing MD, said: “I’m delighted to bring Rikke into the Cooking Vinyl Publishing family. Rikke had a great energy about her in the writing camp and everyone loved working with her. She is a fantastic storyteller as well as a fun and engaging live performer, and I look forward to seeing her career develop further from here.“
Cooking Vinyl Publishing’s roster includes Avelino, July Jones, Skerryvore, Isobel Campbel and The Orb, and writers such as Jacob Attwooll, Robbie Jay and Matty Benbrook.
With approximately 8,000 titles, the CV catalogue includes songs cut by artists such as Paolo Nutini, Dido, Imanbek, TXT, Aitch, Flawes, BTS, Coldabank, NCT 127, NCT Dream, Jack Savoretti and Internet Money.
