Peter Sarstedt dies aged 75

Singer-songwriter Peter Sarstedt has passed away at the age of 75.

Sarstedt was best known for his song Where Do You Go To (My Lovely), which went to No.1 in the UK singles charts in February 1969, where it stayed for four weeks. He also won the coveted Ivor Novello award for Best Song Composition.

His death was announced in a family statement, which said that he dies peacefully following a six-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

Sarstedt released 14 albums over the course of his career, which spanned more than five decades. His last album, Restless Heart, was released in 2013.

He also scored another Top 10 hit in 1969 with the song Frozen Orange Juice.

Sarstedt’s older brother Richard also enjoyed success in the music industry as ’60s star Eden Kane, while his other brother Clive also released several albums.

Peter Sarstedt married twice and is survived by two children, Anna and Daniel.
