Sam Smith releases new single Too Good At Goodbyes

Sam Smith has released a new single, Too Good At Goodbyes, his first new music since 2015.

Writing’s On The Wall, the theme for that year’s James Bond film Spectre, hit No.1, as did the singer’s 2014 debut album In The Lonely Hour. That record has sold 2,327,549 copies to date, according to the Official Charts Company. His biggest-selling single is Stay With Me (1,667,260).

Smith has five UK No.1 singles to his name, as well as three BRIT awards, four Grammys, six MOBO awards, three Billboard Music awards, an Oscar and a Golden Globe.

Smith has been trailing Too Good At Goodbyes via an outdoor poster campaign and on Twitter in the build up to the track’s release. Written alongside longstanding collaborator Jimmy Napes and Stargate, Too Good At Goodbyes is “about a relationship I was in,” says Smith. “It's basically about getting good at getting dumped,” he added. “It's been a long while since I've put any music out and I feel that this first single sets the tone of what is to come."

Smith has also revealed plans to play four intimate shows in Los Angeles, New York, London and Berlin later this month, with venues to be confirmed. See the dates below.

September 11: LA
September 13: NYC
September 15: London
September 18: Berlin
