Connaughton joined Spotify as head of artist & label marketing, UK, less than three months ago. Heading up the streaming giant’s British arm, he will drive content strategy and artist partnerships, as well as editorial and artist marketing.
The rapid promotion follows the departure of George Ergatoudis, head of music culture, international shows & editorial, to lead Apple Music’s UK operation.
Connaughton was previously SVP, creative content & programming at Vevo in New York. His exit from the video hosting service in January followed soon after the departure of CEO and president Erik Huggers.
Last week Spotify appointed Dawn Ostroff as its new chief content officer.
