Tones And I becomes first Australian to top Spotify Global Chart

Tones And I, the former busker turned breakout artist, has become the first ever Australian to hit No.1 on Spotify’s Global Chart.

Dance Monkey has been an international hit for Tones And I (real name Toni Watson) and is currently the official UK No.1. She is the first Australian to top the UK chart since Iggy Azalea’s Problem with Ariana Grande in 2014

Dance Monkey is No. 1 in 16 markets on Spotify – including the UK - and in the Top 3 in 25 markets.

Becky Bass, Global Hits lead at Spotify, said: “Dance Monkey exemplifies the unique strength of our global editorial team. Thanks to regular communication and collaboration across territories and genres, Tones and I swiftly moved from local playlists in Australia, to the Nordics, the US, and multiple other markets.”

“My music is being heard all over the world and Spotify has had a huge part in that,” said Watson.

Tones and I has sold out her debut US, UK and European tour. Next month she will be performing in London at The Lexington (November 15) and Oslo (November 16), followed by an Electric Ballroom date in February 2020 promoted by DHP Family.
