Adobe partners with UMG and WMG to brings licensed music to Premiere Mobile

Adobe is partnering with Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to bring licensed music from their catalogues into its Premiere mobile video editing app.

Creators will be able to browse and preview tracks, search by artist or song, filter by genre and duration, bookmark favourites and explore collections curated by the labels.

They will also be able to add up to 60 seconds of a song to a video before exporting it to platforms including YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels.

By bringing licensed music from UMG artists into Adobe Premiere mobile, we’re giving creators new ways to build their stories around the songs they love

The app will offer customisable templates paired with music, allowing creators to build their videos around a track from the outset.

"By combining music from two of the world's leading music companies with Premiere mobile's pro-level video editing tools, we're making it easier for you to discover the tracks you love, shape your video around the music, and then share your stories – all in one free app," said Adobe's Mike Polner in a blog post.

The music will be licensed for personal, non-commercial use only, with Adobe Stock Audio remaining the option for commercially licensed tracks.

“Music has always been a powerful way for people to express themselves and connect with others," said Bryan Stone, SVP, business development at Universal Music Group. "By bringing licensed music from UMG artists into Adobe Premiere mobile, we’re giving creators new ways to build their stories around the songs they love for the first time, while helping our artists and songwriters reach new audiences."

Our partnership with Adobe Premiere mobile integrates WMG’s catalogue directly into the creative process

Rachel Scarpati, Warner Music Group

Rachel Scarpati, Warner Music Group VP, digital strategy and business development, added: "The way people experience and engage with music extends far beyond traditional listening platforms. Our partnership with Adobe Premiere mobile integrates WMG’s catalogue directly into the creative process, opening up new possibilities for creative expression and deeper fan engagement.”

In 2024, Adobe announced an exclusive integration with TikTok to make the online video platform's Commercial Music Library available in Adobe Express via the Symphony Assistant add-on. It has also previously linked up with SoundCloud.
