BMG expands French operation with new general manager

BMG has promoted Sylvain Gazaignes to GM of its French operation with a brief to expand its recordings business.

Gazaignes first joined BMG France in 2011 as A&R Manager. He has signed acts including Nekfeu/1995 and hip-hop duo Bigflo & Oli, and has been responsible for the development of artists and songwriters across all genres.

In his new role, Gazaignes will lead a newly structured team of over 30 based in Paris and report to Dominique Casimir, EVP Continental Europe, repertoire & marketing.

Casimir said: “France has been a core BMG territory for nearly 10 years. In that time, we have built a strong position in the music publishing business. The job now is to match that strength in recordings. I am delighted that Sylvain has stepped up to this position. With his broad experience, he is a great addition to our European team.”

Gazaignes said: “It is my goal to further expand our activities in the local market as well as promoting our French signings to an international audience using the BMG network. I am proud that we’ve already signed a couple of exciting new artists which we expect to announce soon.”

Gazaignes succeeds Stéphane Berlow, who has left the company.
