'It's a pleasure': Lauren Laverne to host 2019 Hyundai Mercury Prize as performers are announced

Lauren Laverne will host this year's Hyundai Mercury Prize ceremony, organisers have announced.

The former Music Week Awards host and BBC 6 Music DJ will oversee proceedings at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, on September 19.

The prize has also announced that six of this year's nominees will perform live, with more acts set to be confirmed shortly.

So far Anna Calvi, Cate Le Bon, Dave, Idles, Seed Ensemble and Slowthai have announced that they will play live at the ceremony.

“It's a pleasure to be hosting the 2019 Hyundai Mercury Prize. This year's shortlist is such a fantastic representation of British and Irish music in 2019, and I do not envy the judging panel," said Laverne.

It's going to be very difficult to predict which of the twelve albums of the year receives this year's Prize.”
