NME, in conjunction with Universal and EMI, today unveiled a compilation CD, NME Presents: The Essential Bands, that aims to bring together the year's best rock music.

The double CD, which is set for release on November 28, includes tracks from bands championed by the magazine such as Kaiser Chiefs, Gorillaz, and Coldplay.
