Secretly Group celebrates first UK No.1 album as Phoebe Bridgers' Lost Weekend tops 34,000 sales

Phoebe Bridgers has achieved her first No.1 solo album with the critically-acclaimed Lost Weekend.

As well as a first solo chart-topper for Bridgers (who previously hit the summit with Boygenius in 2023), it also marks the inaugural UK No.1 album for Secretly Group in the independent company’s 30th anniversary year.

Lost Weekend (released on the Dead Oceans imprint) debuted at No.1 for Phoebe Bridgers with consumption of 34,239 units (Official Charts Company), including 25,719 physical copies, 7,734 sales equivalent streams and 786 downloads. It was also No.1 on the official vinyl albums chart and the Record Store chart.

The streaming figure for the US singer-songwriter is particularly impressive and sits comfortably in a UK Top 10 alongside big streaming totals for acts including Olivia Rodrigo, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Olivia Dean and Sienna Spiro.

Strong streaming consumption means that Bridgers has earned her first UK Top 40 single with the album title track debuting at No.39 (8,911).

The campaign was disrupted days after the album was released when Bridgers was hospitalised with appendicitis. She had been due to play intimate album launch shows in the UK but was only able to perform one date at London's Union Chapel.

As well as being Bridgers’ first No.1 album, the result for Lost Weekend also marks her biggest weekly total in the UK as both a solo artist and a member of Boygenius.

In 2023, The Record by Boygenius debuted at No.1 with consumption of 18,869 units, while Bridgers’ 2020 solo album Punisher opened at No.6 with consumption of 5,484 units. Boygenius’ The Record has since gone on to amass consumption of 104,117 units, while Punisher is on 199,813 units.

We are ecstatic to see such a bold artistic statement hit No.1

Phil Waldorf

Released in Secretly Group’s 30th anniversary year, Lost Weekend is both the independent company’s first British No.1 album and registered its biggest weekly sale ever in the UK. The previous opening week record for Secretly Group was held by Bon Iver’s 22, A Million for almost a decade.

"We are ecstatic to see such a bold artistic statement hit No.1,” Phil Waldorf, Secretly Group co-owner and chief marketing officer, told Music Week. “It’s a testament to the relationship Phoebe has built with her fans that they’ve waited so long and showed up in such a big way for Lost Weekend. Not only have I not seen a bad review, but even the comment sections of the deepest corners of the internet are shouting about the greatness of this LP. The album is building an incredibly authentic connection with fans.”

The big opening week for Bridgers helped Secretly Group secure a No.5 position in the total weekly albums market for corporate groups across physical, downloads and streaming with a share of 1.3%. For pure album sales, Secretly Group was at No.4 on the corporate group market shares and No.3 for labels with Dead Oceans.

“As for it being our first No.1 album in the UK, I’m immensely proud that as Secretly Group celebrates 30 years in 2026, we are not just looking backwards, we are achieving new cultural and commercial heights," Waldorf added. "The whole team here is so driven, working tirelessly to actualise Phoebe’s vision, and the response to it is overwhelming. The list of people to single out at Secretly is too long, but this UK success would not have happened without the tireless work and leadership of Maxie Gedge [project manager] and Ali Murphy [senior marketing director].”

The No.1 result follows Phoebe Bridgers’ first singles chart success with Lost Boys peaking at No.50 in the UK last month. Lost Boys has now returned to the chart at No.69 with consumption up 247.6% week-on-week and consumption to date of 30,035 units.

The Governor’s Waltz is another new entry for Bridgers at No.53 (7,421 units), along with Lost Weekend at No.39. Under chart rules, primary artists are permitted three singles entries – otherwise Bridgers would have secured five in the Top 100.
