Ahead of 10-night O2 residency, Ariana Grande scores sixth consecutive No.1 album

Ariana Grande has scored her sixth consecutive No.1 album.

Petal (Island), her eighth studio album, debuted at the summit with consumption of 47,889 units (Official Charts Company) – the second best opening week of Grande’s career so far behind Thank U, Next.

It follows her chart-topping results with Dangerous Woman (2016), Sweetener (2018), Thank U, Next (2019), Positions (2020) and Eternal Sunshine (2024).

Petal’s first week consumption was 25.34% above that for its immediate predecessor, Eternal Sunshine. As well as 28,197 physical copies, Petal’s opening tally included 18,139 sales-equivalent streams and 1,553 downloads.

The album is likely to continue to perform strongly this month as it coincides with Grande’s visit to the UK next week with her Eternal Sunshine Tour, which includes a sold-out 10-night residency at The O2 in London (August 15 to September 1).

"Ariana Grande reaching a sixth UK No.1 album is a phenomenal achievement and a testament to the incredible relationship she’s built with UK fans over the years," said Steve Pitron, senior vice president, Island EMI Label Group, international. “Petal is an album that showcases her artistry at its very best; it’s emotionally honest, beautifully crafted and full of the confidence and creativity that audiences have connected with so strongly. We’re incredibly excited to welcome Ariana back to the UK for her upcoming tour, and we can’t wait to experience these songs live with her fans.”

He added: “It’s been a pleasure to work alongside Brandon Creed, Ray Rock, Justin Adams and the team, as well as our fantastic partners at Republic Records. Their support, belief and collaboration throughout the campaign have been invaluable, and it’s a partnership we value hugely.

“A special shout-out also goes to the fantastic team at Island-EMI, in particular Christina Incocciati, head of international, and Max Lutkin, as well as our best-in-class commerce team; Al Smith, Marisa Hemson, Rhys Laird and Fizza Babar, who have steered an outstanding campaign."

With primary artists limited to three singles chart entries, the release of Petal also saw Grande score new hits with the title track at No.4 and Kiss Me at No.15, while former chart-topper Hate That I Made You Love Me climbed back up to No.3 with consumption up 61.4% week-on-week (298,232 units to date).

Following its record-breaking result last week, Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s Rein Me In extended its lead with a 20th week at No.1.
