The Music Works expands Creative Futures event with Warner Chappell and BBC Introducing

Gloucester-based charity The Music Works (TMW) has expanded its Creative Futures event.

The tailored music industry events for young people across Gloucester are staged in partnership with BBC Introducing and Warner Chappell Music.

Building on TMW’s annual Industry Day, Creative Futures will expand across an entire week (November 9-14) for the first time, with a series of events across music, arts and creative health, covering career-building skills for young people in the music industry.

The Music Industry Day (November 12) will feature an expert panel including music business leaders from Soundcloud and Sony Music, DJ and producer Goddard, and rapper Lady Ice. It will be chaired by James Threllfall MBE, from BBC Introducing.

Other events throughout the week include the Warner Chappell Music Masterclass with singer and songwriter Sevn Dayz, as well as an event with Drake Music, a music and disabled-led charity. The week will end with a musical showcase, bringing together emerging original creators from Bristol and Gloucestershire to perform their music live, some for the first time.

Guy Moot, chair and CEO of Warner Chappell Music, said: "Providing direct access and genuine opportunity to emerging talent outside traditional hubs is essential. What The Music Works achieves with their Creative Futures week sets the benchmark, and is a vital reminder of the extraordinary, untapped talent that exists all across the UK."

Malaki Patterson, CEO and artistic director of The Music Works, said: “This is the sixth year of Creative Futures, and we’re pleased to present an entire week of events for the first time, expanding on the success of our creative industry day. At The Music Works, our ambition is to help create a music industry where anyone can build a sustainable career from wherever they are, where the value people put in stays, grows, and flourishes in the community that made it.”

The Music Works reaches more than 8,000 young people per year, including 470 with mental health challenges and 823 with disabilities. It brings local charities together to share their expertise, including Artlift, Drake Music, and Big Team.
