Decca and Geffen partner for first time on new Jacob Collier album

Decca and Geffen have collaborated for the first time on the new album by two-time Grammy winner Jacob Collier

The LP, Djesse, will be released via a partnership between Collier’s label Hajanga Records and Decca and Geffen.

Tom Lewis, senior director of A&R and artist strategy at Decca Records, said: "I am so excited that Jacob Collier has agreed to partner with Decca. He is quite simply one of the great musical wonders of the world. Our job is to introduce as many people as possible to his extraordinary vision and virtuosity.

"It is fantastic also to partner with the incredible team at Geffen. They are brilliant at what they do and it's a privilege to watch them in action. We come from different worlds but this collaboration feels perfect for Jacob. Together, we have something very special on our hands."

Collier won two Grammy Awards at last year's ceremony for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella for his arrangements of Flintstones and You & I, both from his 2016 debut album In My Room.

Nick Groff, general manager of Geffen Records, added: “At Geffen, we constantly look for artists that advance culture, that break musical boundaries and that have the appetite to create beyond. I couldn't be more excited for Geffen to partner with Jacob Collier, his label Hajanga Records, Quincy Jones Productions and Decca UK on this musical journey.

"Jacob is a prolific composer. He is one of the greatest musicians I’ve been fortunate enough to meet in my life. His intellect and creative vision inspire me daily and I look forward helping him share this project with the world.“
