Peermusic has signed Oscar-nominated film, TV and theatre composer George Fenton to Peermusic Accorder for a worldwide publishing deal via Fenton’s company Shogun Music.
Through the deal, Peermusic Accorder will administer the works of George Fenton worldwide. Fenton was previously published by Universal Music Publishing Group.
With a career spanning more than five decades, Fenton has composed scores for over 100 feature films alongside numerous television dramas, documentaries and stage productions.
A five-time Oscar-nominee, George Fenton has received numerous BAFTA, Emmy, Ivor Novello and BMI Awards in addition to a Classic BRIT Award. In 2023, he was awarded a CBE for services to music, recognising his outstanding contribution to film, television and theatre composition.
Fenton is particularly known for his long-standing collaborations with Sir Richard Attenborough, scoring films including Gandhi, Cry Freedom, Shadowlands and The Madness of King George. His other notable film credits include Groundhog Day, Dangerous Liaisons, Ever After, The Fisher King, The Lady in the Van and many of director Ken Loach's films.
Alongside his film work, Fenton has composed some of British television's most memorable scores, including The Jewel In The Crown, Bergerac and Alan Bennett's Talking Heads. He is also celebrated for his music for Sir David Attenborough's landmark natural history series, including The Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Frozen Planet, Life and Wild Isles. He is currently working on two new films and a musical.
