Fontaines DC make global impact with Dopamine Chamber debuting at No.1 in eight countries

Fontaines DC have made a global impact with Dopamine Chamber (XL Recordings) – their biggest album to date on debut.

The label made a global push with the record including organising 374 Dopamine Chamber listening parties in record stores in 38 countries across the world.

The Irish band’s fifth album debuted at No.1 in eight countries (UK, Ireland, Australia, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, Luxembourg).

In the UK, as previously reported Dopamine Chamber posted the third-biggest opening week of 2026 so far and the biggest opening for an independent release. It debuted at No.1 on consumption of 70,105 units (14,235 CDs, 37,501 vinyl albums, 1,796 cassettes, 1,479 digital downloads and 15,094 sales-equivalent streams), according to the Official Charts Company.

The weekly streaming result was the third biggest ever for a rock act in the UK, behind Arctic Monkeys and Coldplay. Thanks to the impressive streaming numbers, Fontaines DC secured three Top 20 singles entries in the UK, including their highest result to date with Marianne at No.12.

Dopamine Chamber also reached No.2 in six more markets (Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, New Zealand and Austria), No. 3 in France and No. 4 in Denmark and Poland.

In the US, Dopamine Chamber earned the band its highest ever placing in the albums chart, entering at No.14, up from the No.97 peak of 2024’s Romance and marking the highest new entry in the chart. The physical LP debuted at No.1 on the US independent albums, vinyl albums and indie store album sales charts.

In the US, Dopamine Chamber opened with 27,000 equivalent album units, including 18,000 physical album sales (13,000 on vinyl).

The band head out on a European arena tour this month including UK dates culminating at The O2 on November 27. Fontaines DC then play theirbiggest ever shows next year with stadium and open-air gigs.
