Nick Hartley has been appointed to the position of ceo of the Pias UK Group, the company which oversees Vital Distribution, Pias Recordings and Fat Cat Records.

Hartley takes on the role four years after joining the company as group finance director. He became chief operating officer in June 2001. Hartley was previously chief financial officer for the Polygram UK before the merger with Universal and has worked in Australis for both EMI and Polygram.
