InChorus Group and Shesaid.so have partnered to create a global survey for the music industry addressing bias and harassment in the workplace.
With the industry facing up to issues of sexual harassment, discrimination and diversity, InChorus and Shesaid.so aim to give a voice to anyone experiencing this kind of behaviour. The survey allows those in the industry to anonymously log when they may have experienced bias or harassment, which then generates data revealing exactly where the biggest issues lie.
The key findings will be announced at next month’s MeetSSS in Portimao, Portugal, the female-first conference inspired by the Shesaid.so community. The results of the first survey of its kind will form part of their ongoing initiatives to build a more inclusive music industry.
Rosie Turner, co-CEO of InChorus Group, said: “We’ve witnessed the progress other industries have made towards calling out and preventing inappropriate behaviour. We want to see this happening within the music industry too. We hope that this survey empowers individuals to share their experiences safely. We have to start understanding the problem in more detail: for the music industry to move forward we believe it’s data like this that has the power to drive meaningful change.”
Andreea Magdalina, founder Shesaid.so, said: “Our hope is that the data this survey uncovers will encourage people in the industry to stop ignoring the inappropriate behaviour taking place every day. We want those in power to take a proactive approach on how they manage their culture, and we need some brave companies to step forward and be the first to take that active stance.”
InChorus launched their third-party tool to anonymously tag and measure incidents of bias and harassment earlier this year. They have since worked with Festicket as a client.
