Apple Music is introducing labels to tag songs that were generated using AI.
The platform has announced it is bringing in Made With AI Labels later this year to make the tags visible, which follows its introduction of AI Transparency Tagging in its content delivery feed in March.
AI Transparency Tagging requests that record labels and distributors tag any piece of content they have submitted that was materially generated using AI.
"Content providers will be required to include AI Transparency Tags in any instance where AI was used to create a material portion of the content, including tracks that are AI platform generated," said Apple Music, which defines AI-platform-generated content as "anything that is primarily derived from a generative AI service".

Separately, a broad spectrum of recorded music creators and companies around the world announced a unified approach to voluntary track labelling last month to give fans clearer information about the use of generative AI (GenAI) in sound recordings.
A2IM, IFPI, RIAA, WIN, IMPALA, The Grammys, SAG-AFTRA and Human Artistry Campaign united around the labelling system.
Distinguishing between “AI-Generated” and “AI-Assisted,” the labels are intended for global adoption across digital music services and other partners. The labeling is designed to evolve as technology and requirements change.
