Suno has today begun introducing its v6 AI music models in partnership with labels and artists.
The v6 models were developed with Suno’s industry partners, including Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe.
BMG signed an agreement with Suno last month, while Warner Music was an early licensing partner last year after settling a lawsuit with the AI platform.
In a statement, Suno described the v6 models as “faster, more expressive and higher quality, with powerful new features that give creators greater control over their music”.
“We started Suno because we believed more people should be able to experience the joy of making music,” wrote CEO and founder Mikey Shulman. “Today we’re taking our biggest step yet toward that vision.”
Suno has faced copyright claims from music companies and rights-holders, including losing a major copyright claim with GEMA in Germany in July, as well as facing opposition from artist groups. But it continues to build partnerships across the industry with Believe just announced as the latest to come on board.
“Our new models build on our ongoing work with artists, creatives, and the broader industry to shape the future of music and Suno,” wrote Shulman.

The strategic partnership with Believe is significant as it was until recently a hold-out against the AI platform. The deal covers participating repertoire from Believe and TuneCore, its platform for self-releasing artists.
Under the agreement, music from participating Believe and TuneCore artists and labels will be included in the new music models that Suno is launching in partnership with the music industry. Artists and labels can choose to opt in to new, licensed music products that the companies will create together.
"Under the partnership, artists who consent to participate will be compensated for their music and their rights will be protected," said a statement on the Believe deal. "They will also benefit from Suno’s training protections and recently announced transparency tools and download limits."
All tracks created by artists using Suno’s new industry partner model will become eligible to distribute through Believe and TuneCore.
"This change from Believe’s April 2026 decision to block the distribution of Suno’s then-current models reflects the progress achieved in recent months for artists," added the statement.
"For 20 years, we have been helping artists and labels reach their full potential, and increasingly that means working with new technology like AI, while ensuring that responsible innovation translates into greater opportunities and value-generation for artists," said Denis Ladegaillerie, founder and CEO of Believe. "The partnership we worked on with Suno for Believe and TuneCore unlocks powerful tools for all artists and labels. It now gives them a meaningful choice over how they can participate, protect their rights and enables them to share the value created by innovative responsible AI technologies."

"We have always shared a common goal with Believe to support independent artists at all stages of their careers," said Shulman. "This partnership will significantly expand opportunities for independent artists, giving them access to creative tools, new paths to distribute their music through Believe and TuneCore, and more exposure. We’ve been laying the foundation for the next generation of Suno, strengthening our safeguards, expanding our industry partnerships, and learning from artists testing our upcoming music models. We’re thrilled to work with Believe on innovative product experiences that will give their artists new ways to earn and build even deeper connections with their fans."
Suno described the v6 AI models as a “new chapter for music” that lay the foundation to launch new products that open up revenue opportunities across the music ecosystem.
“We believe this is a blueprint for how AI and the music industry can strengthen one another and build entirely new product experiences for artists, fans, and the broader music community,” wrote Shulman. “v6 is the result of years spent advancing our technology, getting feedback from artists and our community, strengthening safeguards and building partnerships across the music industry.”
Suno has introduced safeguards to screen uploaded audio files and lyrics for unauthorised use, provide greater transparency into how AI is used in music and make it harder for bad actors to abuse these tools.
Suno’s v6 is its flagship model for Pro and Premier subscribers. In addition, Suno offers v6-wild for “unexpected, textured and ambitious results” and the faster, more efficient v6-mini free edition, which the company says delivers “faster results than any free model on any music creation platform”.
Suno’s v6 features allows users to:
● Edit part of an existing song using plain language. Change one section while preserving everything else, eg change the chorus so it’s sung by a gospel choir
● Build a mashup from multiple sources in one request. Combine elements from different songs and describe how they should work together.
● Sample, isolate and build a new beat in a single workflow.
● Create from a vibe, genre or mix of inspirations. v6 can understand the feeling behind a reference and use it as the starting point for something original, for instance: “Make a song that feels like midnight on a rooftop.”
● Create with text, audio, images and video. Start with a written idea, voice memo, visual or video and turn it into music.
● Update a single lyric without rebuilding the entire song. Change one word or line while leaving the rest intact.
“Our new models build on our ongoing work with artists, creatives, and the broader industry to shape the future of music and Suno,” added Shulman. “What comes next is a new kind of product we’re developing: opt-in experiences built around individual artists, where artists can choose to participate and get paid when they do, and fans get new ways to connect with the artists they love.
“We’re grateful to our industry partners for helping us get here and to all members of our community, who inspire everything we do. v6 is more than a new version of Suno – it’s a new way for technology and the music industry to move forward together, with human creativity at the centre.”
