Hacking group Anonymous stings Universal, Warner and RIAA after Megaupload takedown

The sites targeted by the group were reportedly rendered unavailable for a temporary period. Most have now come back online, although UniversalMusic.com still appears as 'under maintenance'.

MegaUpload.com was taken offline yesterday evening as the US DOJ accused the site's owners of "massive worldwide online piracy".

The body claims this has caused more than $500 million in damages to copyright holders and generated more than $175 million in profits.
